Rep. Rose Requests DOJ Appoint a Special Counsel to Investigate Hunter Biden

December 10, 2020

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-6) and 13 colleagues sent a letter to Attorney General William Barr requesting that the Justice Department appoint an independent Special Counsel to investigate Hunter Biden's tax affairs and foreign business ventures while, his father, Joe Biden was vice president.

"No one is above the law," said Rep. Rose who led the letter. "The allegations against Hunter Biden are very troubling and should not be swept under the rug for political expediency. This matter should be fully investigated and if Mr. Biden has broken the law, he must be held to account."

"In the last 24 hours, additional deeply troubling misconduct allegations have emerged which have shaken many Americans' faith in government. As a result of these allegations, we are requesting that you appoint an independent Special Counsel. … The allegations of criminal misconduct against Mr. Hunter Biden and issues raised in the Senate report need to be taken seriously in order for there to be any chance for the country to move past these scandals. It is imperative that these allegations are fully investigated, and that the investigations are free from any political interference," the letter states.

Other signers included: Reschenthaler, Gibbs, Lamborn, Budd, Rouzer, Weber, Duncan, Luetkemeyer, King, Gohmert, Tiffany, and Posey.

Demands for the appointment of a Special Counsel are mounting with other House Republicans calling on Barr to act, including statements from members of the House Freedom Caucus and a letter from Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO).
