Representative John Rose Calls on Secretary Mayorkas of the Department of Homeland Security to Resign
Washington, D.C.—Today, U.S. Rep. John Rose (TN-6) joined 45 other Members in the U.S. House of Representatives in calling for the resignation of Secretary Mayorkas of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Representative Rose signed a letter sent directly to Secretary Mayorkas pointing out his failures to lead the department, alarming statistics on the U.S. southern border, and instances of gross negligence when enforcing federal laws. As a result, the American People have lost all faith in the Secretary.

Under President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas, DHS recorded more than two million encounters with illegal immigrants at the southern border last fiscal year, exceeding previous records and bringing with it soaring numbers of drug seizures and criminal activity. In the wake of these record-high numbers, there have been reports of secret flights transporting illegal immigrants around the country. The American people have discovered that not only has DHS been using taxpayer dollars to fund these flights, but they are purposefully hiding the flight destinations and allowing the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to accept arrest warrants as a form of identification to board.
The primary mission of the Department of Homeland Security is to secure our nation from its many threats. Secretary Mayorkas’s inability and refusal to enforce immigration laws make him unsuitable for this position.
U.S. Representative John Rose released the following statement:
“President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas have failed the American people and betrayed their oath of office to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies. On my trips to the southern border, I have been heartbroken to witness firsthand how this crisis is impacting not only those crossing the border illegally but our country more broadly. President Biden needs to stop pandering to his far-left base and actually put America first. Secretary Mayorkas’ tenure at DHS overseeing this crisis has been nothing but a complete failure, and he should resign immediately.”
