Rose Statement on the Confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett

WASHINGTON – This evening, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-6) released the following statement on the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court:

"I applaud the Senate for confirming Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court. She is one of the most exceptionally qualified individuals to be nominated to serve on the Supreme Court in recent memory.

"When President Donald Trump was elected, the American people made it clear that they wanted justices who will follow the law and interpret the Constitution as it is written, rather than legislating from the bench. Judge Barrett has proven she is a strong constitutionalist and a brilliant and fair jurist with an exemplary judicial temperament.

"It is disappointing that this confirmation process was plagued with unnecessary grandstanding and personal attacks on Judge Barrett's faith by Senate Democrats. However, history and the American people will remember what is clear – Judge Barrett is an outstanding, balanced addition to the Court.

"I look forward to Judge Barrett continuing her distinguished record serving the American public with honor, respect, and humility on our nation's highest court, and I congratulate President Trump on another successful confirmation."

U.S. Representative John Rose represents Tennessee's Sixth Congressional District and resides in Cookeville with his wife, Chelsea, and their son, Guy. The Sixth District includes Cannon, Clay, Coffee, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Robertson, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, White, and Wilson counties as well as portions of Cheatham and Van Buren counties.
