Rose Statement on Reckless $1.2 Trillion Infrastructure Bill
WASHINGTON—On Friday, November 5th, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-6) released the following statement after voting against the 2,740-page Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which focuses more on pushing Democrats' Far-Left socialist policies, than on America's crumbling infrastructure needs.
"I support funding to repair our roads and bridges, expanding rural broadband, and modernizing our water and sewer systems. But this bill goes well beyond funding infrastructure improvements all while failing to address the red tape that burdensTennessee and other states and slows down projects.
"Democrats are bent on spending massively to enact their socialist policies and paving the way for the destructive reconciliation bill that will change our economy, our nation, and our fiscal future—for the worse. I voted against this bill because we can meet our country's funding needs without jeopardizing our economic recovery and saddling future generations with more debt," said Rep. Rose.
The Congressional Budget Office found that the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act would widen the federal budget deficit by $256 billion over the 2021-2031 period.
U.S. Representative John Rose is currently serving his second term representing Tennessee's Sixth Congressional District and resides in Cookeville with his wife, Chelsea, and their two sons, Guy and Sam. The Sixth District includes Cannon, Clay, Coffee, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Robertson, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, White, and Wilson counties as well as portions of Cheatham and Van Buren counties. Representative Rose is an eighth-generation farmer, small business owner, and attorney, and currently serves on the Financial Services Committee.
