U.S. Rep. Rose Delivers First Floor Speech of 118th Congress in Support of Resolution Condemning Violent Attacks on Pro-Life Organizations
Today, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-06) spoke on the House Floor for the first time in the 118th Congress in support of House Concurrent Resolution 3. H. Con. Res. 3 was introduced by the Vice Chairman of the Republican Conference, Rep. Mike Johnson (LA-3), and expresses the sense of Congress condemning the nationwide wave of violence, property damage, threats, trespassing, and intimidation against pro-life organizations in 2022 by pro-abortion activists in the wake of the Supreme Court opinion overturning Roe v. Wade.

Rep. John Rose (TN-06) full remarks:
“Madam Speaker, today I rise in support of House Concurrent Resolution 3 and urge my colleagues to vote in favor of its passage.
In June of last year, following the decision by the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, a pro-life pregnancy center that assists pregnant women in Nashville, Tennessee, was the victim of an attempted arson attack. Thankfully, no one was injured, and law enforcement opened an investigation into the situation in an effort to bring the perpetrators to justice.
But unfortunately, that is not the case across the entire United States, which is why it is essential that this body, the United States House of Representatives, condemns these heinous acts of political violence.
I am proud to be an original cosponsor of this legislation and will always and forever stand on the right side of history when it comes to protecting the unborn.” (End of remarks)
Rep. Rose later voted “Yes” on agreeing to the resolution, which now heads to the Senate after passing 222-209. Additionally, the House also held a vote on H.R. 26, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Rep. Rose proudly signed on to become an original cosponsor of this bill, which passed the House by a vote of 220-210-1. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act would require healthcare practitioners to provide life-saving medical care for the babies who survive an abortion, as well as criminally penalizes the medical staff for failing to provide medical care to born-alive infants, which often results in the infant’s death.
In 2019, Rep. Rose took to the House Floor to make a formal request that the U.S. House, which at the time was controlled by Democrats, bring the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Act to the House Floor for an immediate vote, but Democrats blocked the action.
